Abstract: During the 2020 flood season,unprecedented floods occurred in the Yangtze River Basin and rivers around Dongting Lake. Adhering to the principle of“coordinating all efforts”in the Yangtze River basin,Hunan Provincial Department of Water Resources took a coordinated approach to dealing with“one river(the Yangtze River),one lake(Dongting Lake)and four waters(Xiangjiang river,zijiang river,Yuanjiang river and lishui river)”,and carried out coordinated operations of major reservoirs in Hunan Province and reservoirs in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River to hold back floods,giving full play to the flood prevention function of reservoirs. This paper lays out in full the current situation and strategy of reservoirs flood prevention in Hunan Province,reviews the main dispatching measures and effect of flood prevention dispatching in 2020,and puts forward suggestions.
