Abstract:
The Chaohu Lake basin encountered severe floods due to heavy rainfalls in the plum rain season of 2020. The highest water level at Zhongmiao hydrological station of the Chaohu Lake reached 13.43 meters which exceeded the water level of 100-year flood and set a new record in the history. Based on the analysis of rainfall information and flood information in the Chaohu Lake Basin in 2020 and the comparison with recent flood years, the practical experience of safely tiding over the flood season in the Chaohu Lake Basin is summarized. The major problems existing in the flood control are also analyzed. And the suggestions for further flood and waterlogging control in the Chaohu Lake Basin are put forward.
