Abstract: Flood storage and detention areas undertake the dual functions of flood control and the survival and development of residents in the area. With the development of economy and society and the lag of construction and management, the contradiction between flood storage and socioeconomic development is increasing. On the basis of summarizing and combing the issues existing in the construction and management of flood storage and detention areas, the main external conditions to resolve the issues are analyzed, and the measures for the construction and management of flood storage and detention areas in the new era are put forward, so as to promote the effective exertion of flood control function and the sustainable development of economy and society in flood storage and detention areas.
