Abstract:
In April 2024, there was a sustained heavy rainfall process in Heyuan City of Guangdong Province. It has the characteristics of strong convection, heavy accumulated rainfall, multiple rivers exceeding the warning level, significant extreme weather conditions, and high risk of causing disasters. Multiple meteorological and hydrological characteristic values have exceeded the historical extreme values of the same period in April, and the Dongjiang River experienced the first numbered flood in recent years. Facing the severe rainstorm and flood in April, departments at all levels of Heyuan City worked together to successfully defend heavy rainfall and achieve the goal of "No Death and Less loss". The causes of the rainstorm and flood in April in Heyuan City were summarized and analyzed to provide effective reference for future water disaster prevention in Heyuan City.
