Analysis of soil moisture classification applied to water and drought disaster prevention work

    • By reviewing the standards and norms for soil moisture in water conservancy, agriculture, meteorology, and local regulations, and aligning with the requirements for drought and flood disaster prevention, the study scientifically categorizes soil moisture based on relative soil humidity. It innovatively divides soil moisture into seven levels: extreme drought, severe drought, moderate drought, mild drought, optimal moisture, slightly wet, and nearly saturated. Using Beijing as a case study, the research compares and analyzes precipitation and soil moisture changes in 2024, selecting representative periods during non-flood and flood seasons for moisture classification evaluation. The findings and applied research on soil moisture classification provide valuable references for soil moisture analysis, evaluation, and flood and drought prevention efforts in other regions.
