Abstract:
With the rapid economic and social development in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, water resources are becoming strained, and water use conflicts are becoming prominent. The extensive management of the unified period of flood season in Xinjiang is no longer suitable for the current intensive and economical management of water resources in the autonomous region. Therefore, the regional division of flood season in Xinjiang is very necessary and urgent. Taking Jingou River as an example, the flood season and main flood season were divided by four methods: flood peak flow method, river inflow proportion method, daily flood peak flow distribution method and over alert flow method. The advantages and disadvantages of the four methods were compared, and the flood season classification method suitable for Jingou River basin was selected, and the method was applied to other rivers in Xinjiang. The results indicate that the flood season and main flood season determined by the river inflow proportion method are both reasonable and in line with the actual situation of the Jin'gou River Basin. Applying this method to other rivers in Xinjiang and dividing the flood season in different regions taking into account the actual situation in Xinjiang; the flood season in Altay area was finally determined to be from May 1st to August 10th, the flood season in the Ili River Valley and Ta'e Basin areas is from April 21st to August 20th; the flood season in the northern slope of Tianshan Mountains, eastern and southern Xinjiang areas is from June 11th to August 20th. The research results are of great significance for disaster prevention and reduction, as well as water resource management in Xinjiang.
